Big right-hander Brandon McCarthy will try to stay undefeated in a New York Yankees uniform when he faces rookie Nick Martinez and the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night.

Last Thursday, Brandon McCarthy was able to pick up his fifth win of the year when he beat the Texas Rangers at home. He pitched six innings in that outing and allowed one run on four hits while walking two and striking out five. McCarthy is now 5-10 on the season with a 4.49 ERA, but he is 2-0 through three starts for the Yankees with a 1.45 ERA.

Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre has done well versus McCarthy in his career, going 14-for-36 against him with four doubles, two home runs and 10 RBI.

Last week, Nick Martinez pitched 5.1 shutout innings against the New York Yankees, but he has to settle for the no decision after not getting much help from his offense. He allowed three hits in that outing and walked one batter while striking out three. Through 17 starts for the Rangers this season, Martinez has a 1-6 record with a 4.73 ERA and he has given up a whopping 85 hits in 72.1 innings.

Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner has one hit in his two at-bats against Martinez with a walk and a strikeout. None of the Yankees have faced Martinez more than twice in their careers.
