The Yankees find themselves short-handed at pitcher after Tuesday's rainout resulted in a day-night double-header against the Chicago Cubs. Joe Girardi may go with Vidal Nuno (0-0) to take on Tampa's Cesar Ramos (0-1) as they close out their weekend series. Nuno showed his potential in the 1st game of the year, coming in the 8th while trailing the Astros 2-6 and subsequently striking out the side. Unfortunately it's gotten worse since then, as he walked the only Toronto batter he faced on April 5th and gave up 7 runs in 3.1 innings in long relief against Baltimore. If the lefty gets the nod Sunday, he'll likely be limited to about 75 pitches, which could be good with a 14.54 ERA so far.

Nuno did get a win against Tampa Bay last year, allowing 2 runs over 6 innings in a 4-3 Yankee victory. The pitcher was shut down early with a groin injury and hasn't faced any Rays player more than 3 times in his career.

Ramos is in a similar situation, getting his second start of the year after being a reliever for the better part of two years. His return to the rotation wasn't pretty last time out as Cincinnati scored 4 runs and Ramos lasted only two innings.

The Yankees might not be the best team to get back on track against judging by Ramos' past results. In his career the lefty has given up 18 hits and 11 runs in 13 innings for a 7.62 ERA against the Yankees, all in relief appearances. That being said the current Yankees squad is hitting only .205 (7 for 34) against Ramos.
