Hiroki Kuroda (7-8) will try to win his first game since July 25 when he and the New York Yankees go up against Jeremy Hellickson (1-1) and the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday afternoon.

Last Sunday, Hiroki Kuroda pitched just 4.2 innings against the Cleveland Indians and ended up losing his eighth game of the season. He allowed three runs on five hits in that outing while walking four and striking out three. He now has a 4.03 ERA on the year and he has given up 149 hits in 147.1 innings on the mound.

Rays third baseman Evan Longoria has nine hits in 21 at-bats against Kuroda with a double, a home run and five RBI. Shortstop Yunel Escobar is just 4-for-18 against him in his career with one walk and four strikeouts.

Right-hander Jeremy Hellickson pitched six shutout innings against the Texas Rangers on the road on Tuesday, but all he could get out of that outing was a no decision. He allowed just six hits in that game and walked one while striking out six. Hellickson now has a 2.02 ERA through five starts for the Rays this year and he has only walked six batters in 26.2 innings,

Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira is 6-for-16 against Hellickson in his career with three doubles and two walks. Outfielder Ichiro Suzuki is just 2-for-16 against him with no walks and no strikeouts.
