27-year-old David Phelps will be looking to bounce back from his first loss of the season when the New York Yankees go up against Lance Lynn and the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday.

David Phelps actually pitched pretty well in his start against the Chicago White Sox last week, but he got no help from his offense and ended up with his first defeat. The seven innings he put in and the eight strikeouts he notched were both season-highs, but the two runs he gave up were enough for the White Sox to grab the win. Phelps now has a 1-1 record and a 3.18 ERA through 34 innings.

Speedy outfielder Peter Bourjos has just one hit in six at-bats against Phelps, while Jhonny Peralta is 2-for-5 with an RBI against him. Everyone else on the Cardinals will be facing Phelps for the first time on Tuesday.

Lance Lynn pitched pretty well against the Arizona Diamondbacks last Thursday, but all he could get out of the game was a no decision. He pitched six innings in that outing and allowed two runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out six. He has struck out 59 batters through 60 innings and owns a 3.60 ERA.

Veteran Alfonso Soriano is 8-for-22 against Lynn in his career with two doubles, a home run, two RBI and eight strikeouts.
