Second-year starter Vidal Nuno will try to get his first win for New York Yankees since early May on Sunday afternoon when he faces Jesse Chavez and the Oakland Athletics.

Vidal Nuno pitched pretty well in his 5.2 innings of work against the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday, but all he could get from that game was a no decision. He gave up just one run in that outing on four hits while walking one and striking out two. On the year, Nuno is 1-2 with a 4.97 ERA and he has give up 62 hits in 58 innings.

A's outfielder Yoenis Cespedes has only faced Nuno two times in his career, but he has shown that he can hit him by going 2-for-2 with a single and a home run. No one of the players on Oakland have faced the left-hander more than three times.

On Monday, Jesse Chavez picked up his fourth loss of the year when he was beaten by the Los Angeles Angels on the road. He pitched six innings in that game and gave up three runs (two earned) on eight hits while walking one and striking out five. Chavez has struck out 74 batters in 80 innings this season and has a 3.04 ERA.

Future Hall of Famer Ichiro Suzuki is 3-for-6 against Chavez with one walk, while outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury is 2-for-3 against him with a home run and three RBI.
