Hiroki Kuroda is coming off of his most effective start of the year and will try to use that momentum when he and the New York Yankees face veteran right-hander Ricky Nolasco and the Minnesota Twins on Sunday afternoon.

Hiroki Kuroda ended up losing his start against the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday, but it certainly wasn't his fault. He pitched eight innings in that game and gave up just two runs on nine hits while striking out seven and walking one. His record is now 5-6 on the year and he has a 4.08 ERA to go along with it.

Outfielder Josh Willingham may have the most experience facing Kuroda of all of the Twins, but he is just 1-for-12 against the right-hander with five strikeouts. None of the current Twins have been able to hit a home run off of Kuroda yet.

Ricky Nolasco had a good start against the Kansas City Royals last Tuesday and came away with his fifth win of the year. In six innings of work, he gave up only one earned run on eight hits and struck out three batters while walking no one. That was a rare strong start from Nolasco, though, as he is just 5-6 on the season with a very high 5.49 ERA.

Yankees catcher Brian McCann has a whopping 20 hits in his 61 at-bats versus Nolasco with four doubles, eight home runs and 23 RBI.
