On Sunday afternoon, 39-year-old Hiroki Kuroda will make his 13th start of the season for the New York Yankees and will face James Shields and the Kansas City Royals.

On Tuesday, Hiroki Kuroda when 6.2 innings against the Oakland Athletics and only allowed one earned run, but all he could get out of it was a no decision. He gave up just two hits in that start and walked one while striking out two. Kuroda still has a 4-3 record on the year and has only walked 12 batters in 71.2 innings.

Third baseman Mike Moustakas is the only player on the Royals who has been able to hit a home run off of Kuroda, but he is just 1-for-6 against him overall. Omar Infante has four hits in 10 at-bats against the veteran right-hander with one RBI.

James Shields picked up a no decision for the third straight start when he gave up five earned runs against the St. Louis Cardinals last week. He allowed nine hits in that outing and walked a season-high four batters while striking out just one. Shields has gotten 5.47 runs of run support this season, which part of the reason why he has a 6-3 record.

Red Sox outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury is hitting just .231 against Shields in 52 career at-bats, but he has hit two home runs off of the right-hander.
