On Monday night, Vidal Nuno will be looking to pick up his first win since back on May 7 when he and the New York Yankees take on Jason Vargas and the Kansas City Royals.

Lefty Vidal Nuno ended up with a no decision last Wednesday when he went 4.2 innings against the Oakland Athletics at Yankee Stadium. He allowed two earned runs on six hits in that game while striking out five and walking one. Through 52.1 innings this season, Nuno has a 5.33 ERA and has given up 58 hits.

Nuno will be going up against the Royals for the first time in his career on Wednesday. So far this year, he has thrown his 89 mph fastball about 42 percent of the time and his slider just over 30 percent of the time.

Veteran starter Jason Vargas pitched very well against the St. Louis Cardinals last week, but he only ended up getting a no decision out of the start. He went eight strong innings in that outing and allowed just two runs on nine hits while striking out three and walking two. He is 5-2 on the year with a 3.28 ERA.

Yankees outfielder Alfonso Soriano has six hits in 13 at-bats against Vargas with three doubles, one home run and two RBI. Carlos Beltran is 3-for-7 against him with a home run and three RBI.
