Hiroki Kuroda will be hoping to have another good season for the New York Yankees as he will make his first start of 2014 against Jarred Cosart and the Houston Astros. Kuroda is about consistent as starters get in the majors, striking out about seven hitters and walking about two per nine innings. He may have had an 11-13 record last year, but he was still a solid contributor on a Yankees team that had a down year.

The Astros' player that Kuroda has faced the most in his career is outfielder Dexter Fowler, who has had very little success against the righty. Fowler has 22 career plate appearances against Kuroda and has just four hits. Second baseman Jose Altuve has only faced Kuroda six times, but has gotten two hits.

Jarred Cosart was able to come up to the majors for the first time in 2013 and show what he was made of. In 10 starts, he had an amazing 1.95 ERA, but he had some issues with control. If he can reign in the walks a bit, his first full season in the bigs should be a good one.

Since Cosart had so few starts last year, the current Yankees haven't seen too much of him. Outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury is the only player in the Yankees' lineup who has faced him more than once and he has zero hits and one strikeout in three plate appearances.
