On Thursday night, right-hander David Phelps will get the start for the New York Yankees when they take on Hector Noesi and the Chicago White Sox.

Last Saturday, David Phelps made his third start of the season for the Yankees and was able to pick up his first win of the year by defeating the Pittsburgh Pirates. He pitched five shutout innings in that start and allowed just five hits while walking three and striking out a season-high five hitters. Through 27 innings, Phelps has a 3.22 ERA, but he has also walked 14 batters.

No one on the White Sox has faced Phelps more than two times in their careers. Veteran Paul Konerko is the only player on his team with a hit against Phelps.

27-year-old Hector Noesi remained winless when he picked up his fourth loss of the season after being beaten by the Houston Astros on the road last week. He pitched six innings in that start and gave up six runs (five earned) on eight hits while striking out six and walking three. Noesi might not be in the rotation too much longer unless he can greatly improve his 7.31 ERA.

Outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury has faced Noesi four times in his career and has two hits, including a double, with two RBI. First baseman Mark Teixeira is 1-for-3 against him with a double.
