On Tuesday night, rookie Masahiro Tanaka will look to continue his perfect start to the season when the New York Yankees go up against Jason Hammel and the Chicago Cubs.

Masahiro Tanaka picked up his third consecutive win and his sixth win overall when he was able to shut out the New York Mets last week. He gave up just four hits in those nine innings of work and struck out eight while walking no one. He now has a 6-0 record and a sparkling 2.17 ERA on the season.

The Cubs are one of the eight Major League teams that Tanaka has faced already and will be the first team that he will face for the second time. In his first outing against them, he gave up just two hits and no runs while striking out 10. Only Junior Lake and Anthony Rizzo had hits against him.

Right-hander Jason Hammel lost for the second time this season when he was beaten by the St. Louis Cardinals last Thursday on the road. He pitched just 5.1 innings in that game and gave up a season-high five runs on five hits while walking two and striking out six. He is still having a good season, though, with a 4-2 record and a 3.06 ERA.

Kelly Johnson has a .300 batting average against Hammel in 30 at-bats, which includes two doubles and two home runs.
