On Wednesday night, Michael Pineda will be looking to win his third game in a row when the New York Yankees take on the Boston Red Sox and the struggling John Lackey.

Michael Pineda continued his great start to the season by getting the win against the Chicago Cubs last Wednesday. Pineda was able to go six shutout innings and gave up just four hits while striking out three. He is now 2-1 on the season with a 1.00 ERA through 18 innings.

Boston's Daniel Nava has just one hit and two strikeouts in his three at-bats against Pineda, but that one hit was a solo home run. Dustin Pedroia is normally a good hitter no matter who he is facing, but he is 0-for-6 against Pineda in his career.

John Lackey had a great start to the season, but he has lost his last two games and was hit up for six runs on 10 hits in his last outing against the Baltimore Orioles. He was able to strike out six Orioles in 5.1 innings, but he also walked four. His ERA is now up to 5.25 and he's giving up more than 10 hits per nine innings.

First baseman Mark Teixeira has had plenty of success in his 78 plate appearances against Lackey, hitting .313/.410/.448 off of him with two home runs and 13 RBI. One Yankee that Lackey has done very well against is Alfonso Soriano, who has just eight hits off of him in 41 career at-bats.
