On Friday, Chris Capuano (2-4) will get the start for the New York Yankees and will be going up against Boston Red Sox starter Steven Wright (0-0), who will be making just his second Major League start.

Chris Capuano gave up four earned runs in 5.2 innings of work against the Toronto Blue Jays last Saturday and suffered his fourth loss of the year. He allowed five hits in that game and struck out two batters while walking four. His ERA rose to 4.67 with that loss and he has now given up 97 hits in 90.2 innings on the mound this season.

Cardinals outfielder Allen Craig has eight hits in his 15 at-bats versus Capuano with four doubles, two home runs and six RBI. Veteran Mike Napoli has three hits in seven at-bats against him with a double and an RBI.

In a relief appearance against the Baltimore Orioles last week, Steven Wright pitched three innings and gave up just one run. He allowed three hits in that outing and struck out six batters while walking just one. In 16 innings of work this season, Wright has struck out 18 batters and he has a solid 3.38 ERA going into his first start.

Yankees shortstop Brendan Ryan is hitless in two at-bats against Wright in his career with no walks and no strikeouts. All of the other Yankees' hitters will be facing Wright for the first time on Friday.
