Chris Capuano (1-1) will take the mound for the second time for the New York Yankees on Friday night and is set to face fellow veteran John Lackey (11-7) and the Boston Red Sox.

Last Saturday, Chris Capuano made his first start after being traded to the Yankees and pitched well despite only coming away with a no decision. He went six innings in that start and allowed two runs on five base hits while walking four and striking out four. As a starter and a reliever this season, Capuano now has a 4.30 ERA and he has struck out 33 batters in 37.2 innings.

Red Sox catcher David Ross has four hits in 15 at-bats versus Capuano with two doubles, and two solo home runs. Outfielder Shane Victorino is 4-for-10 against him with three doubles and a home run.

John Lackey pitched well against the Tampa Bay Rays on the road last weekend, but he ended up taking the loss. He went seven innings in that outing and allowed three runs (two earned) on eight hits while walking four and striking out four. Lackey now has a 3.60 ERA on the year and he has only walked 2.1 batters per nine innings.

Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira has 22 hits in 73 at-bats against Lackey with three doubles, three home runs and 14 RBI. Brett Gardner is 13-for-40 against him with four doubles, a triple and five RBI.
