In Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals, the New York Rangers were able to defeat the Los Angeles Kings 2-1 to avoid elimination and get the Kings' lead in the series down to 3-1. The Kings had a commanding 41-19 shots on goal advantage on the night, but the Rangers got excellent goaltending from three-time All-Star Henrik Lundqvist to help them get the win.

The Rangers scored the lone goal of the first period when left wing Benoit Pouliot scored his fifth of the playoff midway through the period. That goal was assisted by John Moore and Derick Brassard.

Six and a half minutes into the second period, Rangers midseason acquisition Martin St. Louis scored his eighth of the playoffs off of assists by Chris Kreider and Derek Stepan. About two minutes later, the Kings would cut the lead in half through when Dustin Brown was able to score on an unassisted tally.

Los Angeles had multiple chances throughout the rest of the game, but the Rangers did just enough to extend the series to at least five games.

Lundqvist was easily the best player on the ice for either team in the game. He stopped 40 of the 41 shots that the Kings put on net and finished with a .976 save percentage.

Los Angeles netminder Jonathan Quick only faced 19 shots in the game and was able to stop 17 of them.
