Tuesday night, the New York Mets will take the field behind Bartolo Colon (14 - 12, 4.02 ERA) as they square off against the Washington Nationals and Tanner Roark (14 – 10, 2.85 ERA).  Colon will be making his 30th start as Roark makes his 31st.

Bartolo Colon got the win in his last start behind a bend but don’t break performance.  Colon allowed a run on 12 hits in 7.2 innings of work as he struck out 7 without issuing a single walk.  Twelve hits are a lot for one game but Colon managed to limit the damage.  He has alternated wins and losses for most of his starts in recent weeks and is 6 - 4 in his last 10 outings.  In 2013, Colon made 30 starts for the Oakland A’s en route to an 18 – 6 record and a 2.65 ERA. 

Colon didn’t face the Nationals last season but he has seen a lot of them this season.   In 4 starts against Washington this season, Colon is 1 - 3.

Tanner Roark turned a strong performance in his last start into his 2nd straight win.  Roark hurled 7 innings of scoreless ball and allowed just 5 hits without a single a walk as he struck out 4.  After a recent tough stretch, Roark has rebounded and he has raised his record to 4 - 4 in his last 10 starts.  Last season, Roark made 5 starts and 9 relief appearances as he posted a 7 – 1 record with a 1.51 ERA. 

In 2013, Roark was 1 – 0 with a 2.89 ERA in a start and a relief appearance against the Mets.  This season, he is a perfect 3 – 0 in 3 starts against the Mets.
