On Monday night, rookie Jacob deGrom will look to get his first Major League win for the New York Mets when he faces current National League wins leader Adam Wainwright and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Against the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday, Jacob deGrom gave up three earned runs in 5.2 innings and ended up suffering his third loss of the year. He allowed nine hits in that start and walked one while striking out four. deGrom has yet to pick up his first Major League win this season, but that has more to do with limited run support than his production on the mound.

The Cardinals will be facing deGrom for the first time on Monday night. So far, right-handed hitters are batting .211 against him, while left-handed hitters have a .241 batting average.

Last Tuesday, right-hander Adam Wainwright won his ninth game of the season by defeating the Tampa Bay Rays on the road. He pitched seven scoreless innings in that outing and gave up seven hits while walking two and striking out two, which is a season-low for him. Wainwright has been fantastic so far this year, going 9-3 through 14 starts and allowing just four home runs in 100.1 innings.

Second baseman Daniel Murphy has had more success against Wainwright than any of the other Mets, going 7-for-14 against him with two doubles, a triple and two RBI.
