24-year-old Zack Wheeler will be making the start for the New York Mets on Sunday afternoon and will be facing Tim Lincecum and the San Francisco Giants.

Zack Wheeler pitched very well in his outing against the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday, but all he could get out of it was a no decision in a game the Cubs eventually won 2-1. Wheeler pitched 6.2 scoreless innings in that game and gave up just two this while striking out seven and walking two. He has a 2-5 record on the season, but he has a decent 3.89 ERA and has struck out 69 hitters in 69.1 innings.

Wheeler has done well against the Giants' hitters in his few appearances against them. Current Giants have a combined .154 batting average in 24 at-bats.

Tim Lincecum had one of his roughest outings of the season last week against the Cincinnati Reds when he allowed eight runs in just 4.1 innings. In that loss, he walked three batters and was only able to strike out three. Lincecum has been able to get his strikeout rate back up this season, but his ERA is now up to 5.01 and he has walked 4.3 batters per nine innings.

Mets outfielder Chris Young has hit two home runs off of Lincecum in their matchups, but he is hitting just .157 against him overall with 17 strikeouts.
