On Sunday afternoon, veteran starter Bartolo Colon will be going for his fourth consecutive win when he and the New York Mets go up against Edinson Volquez and the Pittsburgh Pirates.

41-year-old Bartolo Colon won his third game in a row and his eighth overall on Tuesday by defeating the Oakland Athletics at home. He pitched eight strong innings in that game and gave up just one run on four hits while walking one and striking out eight. On the season, Colon is 8-5 with a 3.67 ERA and he has only walked 14 batters in 100.2 innings.

Chris Stewart has four hits in 11 at-bats against Colon in his career and is the only player on the Pirates who has hit a home run off of him. Starling Marte is hitless against Colon in seven at-bats and he has been struck out by the right-hander twice.

Last Monday, Edinson Volquez won his fifth game of the season by beating the Tampa Bay Rays on the road. He allowed just one run in eight innings of work in that game while walking two and striking out one. He now has a 5-6 record this year and he has only struck out 5.7 batters per nine innings, which is nearly three strikeouts fewer than his career strikeout rate.

Mets outfielder Chris Young has hit a home run off of Volquez in his career, but he is just 2-for-15 overall against him.
