The New York Mets will play the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday in the second of a four game series. The Mets will put Rafael Montero on the mound to face the Phillies’ A.J. Burnett.

Montero is coming off a no-decision against the Arizona Diamondbacks in a game where he pitched six innings and gave up one earned run on two hits while striking out 10 and walking three. This was a big improvement over his first two starts of the season in which he took two losses and gave up eight earned runs over the two games. Montero currently sits at 0-2 with a 4.96 ERA.

A.J. Burnett got his fourth loss of the season when he faced the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday. He pitched seven innings giving up four earned runs on 11 hits while striking out three and walking one. The loss put Burnett’s record at 3-4 with a 3.51 ERA. Burnett hasn’t been pitching well as of late as he’s lost three of his last four starts and increased his ERA over half a point. He’ll look to get back on track when faces the Mets on Friday.

Current New York Mets players are hitting .278 versus Burnett. He’ll have to be careful when facing Bobby Abreu who is 23-for-70 over his career against Burnett with eight doubles and two home runs.
