Saturday night, Dillon Gee (4 – 4, 4.73 ERA) gets the call for the New York Mets as they take on Cole Hamels (6 -6, 2.42 ERA) and the Philadelphia Phillies.  It will be the 14th start for Gee and the 21st for Hamels.

Cole Hamels got the loss in this last outing after his offense wasted a solid start from the former ace.  Hamels allowed just a run on 4 hits in 7 innings of work.  He walked a batter and struck out 6.  But the offense couldn’t get on the board and Hamels suffered.   The loss halted Hamels’ 3 game win streak.  Hamels is 4 - 1 in his last 6 starts and he has allowed a run or less in 4 of those starts.  Last season, Hamels was just 8 – 14 with a 3.60 ERA in 33 starts.

In 2013, Hamels was 2 – 3 with a 4.94 ERA in 5 starts against the Mets.  This season, Hamels is 1 – 1 in 4 starts against New York.
