The New York Mets will face the New York Yankees on Tuesday in the first game of a four game series. The Mets will send Zack Wheeler (1-3, 4.35 ERA) to the mound against the Yankees’ Vidal Nuno (1-0, 5.47) ERA.

Wheeler is coming off a six inning no decision in which he gave up no runs, two hits, five walks, and had seven strikeouts. The duel was against the Miami Marlins’ Tom Koehler. Wheeler’s command has been iffy so far this season and he’s walked 18 batters in seven games. The 23 year old righty has only faced Brian McCann on the current Yankees roster and allowed only one hit for McCann’s five at bats.

This Yankees will counter Wheeler with Vidal Nuno who is looking for his second win on this young season. Nuno was able to get the win when he faced the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday. He pitched 6.1 innings and only gave up one run and four hits. It helped that the Yankees were able to compile five runs in their half of the first inning. From there, Nuno was on auto pilot and pulled out the win. He’ll want to pitch well and show management that he can play because Michael Pineda is due back at the end of the month and David Phelps is pitching well so he may not be a starting pitcher for long.

Of the five Mets that Nuno has faced, he’s only given up one hit in 11 at bats.
