On Friday, July 25, the New York Mets will face the Milwaukee Brewers. The Mets will be sending Zack Wheeler (5-8, 3.78 ERA) to the mound opposite of Yovani Gallardo (5-5, 3.79 ERA) of the Brewers in the second game of their four game series.

Zack Wheeler is coming off a no-decision against the San Diego Padres on Sunday. Wheeler pitched a strong six innings and only gave up one run on eight hits while striking out seven. Wheeler has been on a roll as of late and has only allowed one run in each of his last four starts lowering his ERA to 3.78 after being well over four in June. Wheeler has also been striking batters out at a high rate, retiring 17 batters via strikeout in his last three games.

Wheeler hasn't faced many Brewer batters but he'll have to be careful when facing Carlos Gomez who is 3-for-3 against him with a double and an RBI.

Yovani Gallardo has had his team on the losing end in his last five starts. In his last start versus the Washington Nationals, Gallardo pitched six innings of four run, eight hit ball. He struck out six and walked two in this game while surrendering a homerun in the effort resulting in a no-decision; his third straight. Gallardo will look to get in the win column when he faces the Mets on Friday.

Gallardo has pitched well against the Mets over his career. Current Mets hitters are .236 when facing Gallardo. Lucas Duda has been a problem for Gallardo going 5-for-10 with two homeruns over his career.
