On Wednesday, May 7, the New York Mets will travel to Miami to take on the Marlins. The Mets will be sending Zack Wheeler to the mound to take on the Marlins’ Tom Koehler.

Wheeler, currently holding a 1-3 record with a 5.13 ERA, had a night he’d like to forget when he faced the Colorado Rockies on May 2. Wheeler only made it through 4 innings as he gave up 6 earned runs on 7 hits and 2 walks while striking out only 1. Wheeler got the loss on the night as the Mets fell 10-3 to the Rockies.

However, Wheeler has pitched well against the Marlins who only have 8 hits in 43 at bats, giving the team an average of .186 against Wheeler. Of those 8 hits only one was an extra base hit going for a double. This will be the perfect opportunity for Wheeler to get back in the win column. Of those 8 hits, Giancarlo Stanton has one of them. He’ll look to lift his .200 average against Wheeler when they face off.

On the other hand, Tom Koehler is coming off a fine outing against the Los Angeles Dodgers in which he pitched 7 innings giving up no runs and only 3 hits while walking 2 and striking out 4. Koehler, with a 3-2 record and a 2.41 ERA, will look to add his fourth win of the season on Wednesday when he faces the Mets.

As a team, the New York Mets are hitting .209 against Koehler. Koehler will have to watch out for Daniel Murphy who is hitting .385 against him with a home run and two RBI’s. David Wright has also played well against Koehler, hitting for a .273 average with two doubles and three RBI’s.
