Left-hander Jonathon Niese (7-8) will be going for his third win in a row for the New York Mets when they go up against Clayton Kershaw (14-3) and the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night.

Last Saturday, Jonathon Niese was able to pick up the win over the Chicago Cubs after giving up three runs in six innings of work. He allowed seven hits in that game and struck out six batters while walking two. Niese has only walked 39 batters in 141.1 innings on the mound this season and he now has a 3.50 ERA.

Dodgers second baseman Darwin Barney has five hits in 12 at-bats against Niese in his career with two RBI and no strikeouts. First baseman Adrian Gonzalez is hitless in five at-bats against him with a walk and one strikeout.

Clayton Kershaw lost a game for the first time since May on Saturday when he was beaten by the Milwaukee Brewers at home. He pitched nine innings in that game and gave up three runs on five hits while walking two and striking out 11. He now has a 1.86 ERA on the year and he has struck out 10.8 batters per nine innings.

Mets infielder Ruben Tejada has three hits in seven at-bats against Kershaw in his career with three walks and two strikeouts. David Wright is just 3-for-14 against him with four walks and two strikeouts.
