Friday night Dillon Gee will take the mound for the New York Mets as they face Tyler Skaggs and the Los Angeles Angels.  Gee gets his 3rd start of the year as Skaggs gets his second start.

Dillon Gee had a solid 2nd start of the season, going 7.1 innings and allowing 3 runs on 6 hits with 4 strikeouts and 1 walk in a no decision.   Last season, Gee was 12 – 11 in 32 starts for the Mets with a 3.62 ERA.   But Gee has a problem with the long ball.  He has given up 3 homers already this season and gave up a career high 24 last season.

He didn’t face the Angels last season but he has faced a few of the Angels’ hitters.  Only three Angels have experience against Gee with David Freese having the most.  Freese is 3 of 11 with 3 strikeouts and a walk against Gee. 

Tyler Skaggs won his first start of the year with an 8 inning day where he gave up just 1 run on 4 hits with a walk and 5 strikeouts.  It was a good start in his first season in Los Angeles following last season’s 2 – 3 record in 7 starts with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

In just his 3rd major league season, Skaggs has never faced the New York Mets.  Some time studying the scouting report along with some help from the rest of the pitching staff should help Skaggs in his first start against the Mets.
