Sunday afternoon, the New York Mets and Dillon Gee will take on the Colorado Rockies and Jhoulys Chacin.  Gee will make his 7th start of the year as Chacin makes his 1st start.

Dillon Gee improved his record to 2 - 1 and his ERA to 2.88 after an impressive start his last time out.  Gee pitched 8 innings of shutout ball giving up just 3 hits with 4 walks and 6 strikeouts.  The number of walks was high but Gee didn’t let that hurt him.  In 2013, Gee was 12 – 11 with an ERA of 3.62 in 32 starts.

Last season, Gee was 1 – 1 with an ERA of 4.38 in 2 starts against the Rockies.  Gee will have to watch out if Carlos Gonzalez is in the Colorado lineup.  Gonzalez is 3 of 4 with a triple and a solo home run against Gee.

Jhoulys Chacin will make his first trip to the hill this season after starting the year on the disabled list with shoulder inflammation.  Chacin did well enough in his rehab starts in the minors to get back to the majors.   Last season, Chacin was 14 - 10 with an ERA of 3.47 in 31 starts.

In 2013, Chacin lost his only start against the Mets and earned a 2.57 ERA.  In that outing, he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits in 7 innings with a walk and 5 strikeouts.    New York’s Chris Young has faced Chacin the most with 18 career at-bats.  In those plate appearances, Young is batting .222 with an RBI.
