On Sunday afternoon, Jacob deGrom (8-6, 2.68) will try to stay undefeated in the month of September when he and the New York Mets take on Ervin Santana (14-9) and the Atlanta Braves.

Rookie Jacob deGrom gave up three runs in seven innings of work against the Miami Marlins last Monday and finished with a no decision. He gave up six hits in that start and struck out a season-high 13 batters while walking one. deGrom has a very solid 2.68 ERA on the year and has struck out 134 batters in 134.1 innings.

Braves third baseman Chris Johnson has three hits in his five plate appearances against deGrom with a double and three RBI. Outfielder Justin Upton is just 1-for-6 against him with no walks and four strikeouts.

Ervin Santana lost his second game in a row last week when he was beaten by the Washington Nationals at home. He gave up two runs in six innings on the mound that day while walking two batters and striking out six. On the season, Santana now has a 3.74 ERA and he has only given up 15 home runs in 185.1 innings.

Mets outfielder Curtis Granderson is just 12-for-49 against Santana in his career, but five of those hits were home runs. Second baseman Daniel Murphy is 5-for-12 against him with two doubles and no strikeouts.
