Jonathon Niese (8-11), who is 1-1 with a 4.12 ERA in his three September starts, will be on the mound for the New York Mets on Saturday night when they take on Mike Minor (6-1) and the Atlanta Braves.

Jonathon Niese lost his start against the Washington Nationals last Sunday despite pitching well in the game. He went seven innings in that outing and gave up just two runs on six hits while walking no one and striking out seven. Niese has a decent 3.55 ERA on the season and he has only walked 2.3 batters per nine innings.

Braves outfielder Justin Upton is 9-for-20 against Niese in his career with a double and two RBI. B.J. Upton is just 1-for-9 against him with two walks and five strikeouts.

Last Sunday, Mike Minor lost his third game in a row when he was defeated by the Texas Rangers on the road. He went 4.2 innings in that game and allowed five runs on eight hits while walking three and striking out one. Minor has struck out 120 batters in 144.1 innings and he now has a 4.74 ERA on the season.

Mets third baseman David Wright is only batting .231 in 26 at-bats against Minor, but he does have three home runs and four RBI against him. Second baseman Daniel Murphy is 3-for-21 against him in his career with two doubles, a home run and five RBI.
