Monday night, Ricky Nolasco will take the mound for the Minnesota Twins as they face R.A. Dickey and the Toronto Blue Jays. It will be Nolasco’s 13th start and Dickey’s 14th.

Ricky Nolasco added his 2nd straight win the last time he took the mound and that sent his record to 4- 5 with a 4.65 ERA.  In that outing, Nolasco went 7 innings and allowed 4 runs on 6 hits (including a home run).  He didn’t issue a single walk as he struck out 7.  In 2013, he went 13 – 11 with a 3.70 ERA in 33 starts and a relief appearance for the LA Dodgers and the Miami Marlins.

Last season, Nolasco pitched to a no-decision in his only start against the Blue Jays after allowing 2 runs on 2 hits in 5.2 innings.  He has seen many of the Blue Jays before but no one more than Jose Reyes.  Reyes is 16 of 49 with 3 homers and 5 RBIs against the veteran right-hander.

R.A. Dickey got the win in his last outing and that gave him a 6 – 4 record with a 4.25 ERA coming into this start.  His last time out, Dickey gave up 2 runs (on 2 solo homers) and 7 hits in 5 innings as he walked 4 and struck out 4.  The knuckleballer is having a fair season and he will probably match last season’s record of 14 – 13 with a 4.21 ERA in 34 starts.

In 2013, Dickey was 1- 1 with a 6.08 ERA in 2 starts against the Twins.  This season, Dickey was torched by the Twins for 5 runs and 7 hits in just 4.1 innings.  Dickey walked 5 and struck out 4 in the loss.
