Wednesday night, the Minnesota Twins and Mike Pelfrey will face the Tampa Bay Rays and Jake Odorizzi. It will be the 4th starts of the season for both pitchers.

Mike Pelfrey is still seeking his first win after posting an 0 – 2 record and a 7.98 ERA in 3 starts.  His last outing was a 4.1 inning effort where he allowed 5 runs on just 4 hits (including a homer) while walking 5 and striking out just 1.  The numbers are really not much better than 2013’s 5 - 13 record and 5.19 ERA in 29 starts.

Jake Odorizzi took his second straight loss in his last start after giving up 3 runs on 5 hits in 5 innings with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts.  Odorizzi’s record fell to 1 – 2 with an ERA of 5.63.   After winning his first start, Odorizzi has given up 10 runs (all earned) on 15 hits in his last 2 outings (10 innings).  That comes out to a run per inning and that isn’t good.  Last season, Odorizzi was 0 – 1 with a save and a 3.94 ERA in 4 starts and 3 relief appearances.

In 2013, Odorizzi didn’t get to face the Twins and Eduardo Nunez is the only Minnesota hitter that he has ever faced. Nunez is 0 for 1 against Odorizzi.
