On Wednesday night, big right-hander Kyle Gibson will take the mound for the Minnesota Twins when they face seven-game winner Roenis Elias and the Seattle Mariners.

Second-year starter Kyle Gibson could only make it through two innings against the New York Yankees last week and ended up losing his seventh game of the year. He gave up six runs (five earned) on six hits in that outing while walking one and striking out no one. Gibson now has a 7-7 record on the year, but he has only been able to strike out 50 hitters in 95 innings of work.

Mariners veteran outfielder Michael Saunders has gotten three hits against Gibson in six at-bats with a solo home run and one strikeout. Kyle Seager is hitless against the right-hander with an RBI and a strikeout.

Rookie Roenis Elias lost his second consecutive game last Friday when he was beaten by the Chicago White Sox on the road. He pitched five innings in that outing and gave up five runs on seven hits while walking one batter and striking out six. Through 18 starts, Elias has a 7-7 record and has struck out 93 batters in 109.2 innings of work.

Second baseman Brian Dozier is 2-for-2 against Elias in his career and is the only player on the Twins who has hit a home run off of him.
