On Friday, Kyle Gibson (10-8) will try to win his third consecutive game when he and the Minnesota Twins go up against Scott Kazmir (12-4) and the Oakland Athletics.

Second-year starter Kyle Gibson was able to win his second game in a row on Sunday when he defeated the Chicago White Sox on the road. He pitched seven innings in that outing and allowed three runs on six base hits while walking no one and striking out six. He currently owns a 3.93 ERA on the year and he has only given up eight home runs on 121.1 innings.

A's infielder Alberto Callaspo has no hits in three at-bats against Gibson in his career with no walks. None of the other A's have faced Gibson yet.

Veteran left-hander Scott Kazmir lost for just the fourth time this year on Sunday when he was defeated bu the Kansas City Royals over the weekend. He allowed four runs in six innings that day and walked one batter while striking out two. His ERA is still a very solid 2.53 on the year and he has given up just 112 hits in 135.1 innings on the mound.

Brian Dozier is the only player on the Twins who has hit a home run off of Kazmir, but he is just 2-for-18 overall against him with three strikeouts. Trevor Plouffe is 6-for-16 against Kazmir with two doubles and two RBI.
