Rookie starter Yohan Pino (1-3) will try to win his first game since early June when the Minnesota Twins face Jon Lester (11-7) and the Oakland Athletics on Thursday night.

Last Saturday, Yohan Pino made his eighth start of the year and ended up with a no decision after pitching 6.1 innings against the Chicago White Sox. He allowed four runs on seven base hits in that start while walking two batters and striking out five. He now has a 4.57 ERA this season and he has only given up four home runs in 45.1 innings of work.

The A's will be facing Pino for the first time on Thursday night. So far this year, right-handed batters are hitting .224 against him, while left-handed batters have a .313 batting average against him.

Jon Lester made his first start for the A's and was able to beat the Kansas City Royals at home. He pitched 6.2 innings in that start and allowed three runs on nine base hits while walking one batter and striking out three. Overall this season, Lester has an 11-7 record with a 2.59 ERA and he has struck out 152 batters in 149.2 innings on the mound.

Twins catcher Kurt Suzuki has five hits in 18 at-bats versus Lester with two walks and five strikeouts. Josh Willingham is just 2-for-13 against him with five walks and three strikeouts.
