On Friday the Minnesota Twins will travel to the East coast to take on the New York Yankees. Minnesota will send Ricky Nolasco to the mound opposite of the Yankees’ Vidal Nuno.

Nolasco is coming off his fifth loss of the season and third loss in his last five outings. The loss against the San Francisco Giants put Nolasco’s record at 2-5 with a 6.12 ERA. He only lasted 4.2 innings and gave up seven earned runs via nine hits while striking out three and walking one. The Twins’ defense wasn’t much help on the night as two very catchable fly balls were dripped in the first inning. Nolasco will look to get back on track Friday when he faces the Yankees.

A dose of Ricky Nolasco might be exactly what Brian McCann needs to get on track. Over his career, McCann is 20-for-58 against Nolasco with eight home runs and 23 RBIs.

Nuno last pitched on Friday against the Chicago White Sox and got the no decision as he pitched seven innings and gave up three earned runs over nine hits while striking out five batters and walking one. Nuno was on track for the loss before he was bailed out in the ninth inning when the Yankees came back and tied the game. Nuno will have to pitch a lot better if he wants to keep his spot. With Michael Pineda soon to be back in the lineup, Nuno will have to outpitch one of David Phelps or Chase Whitley. Nuno holds a 1-1 record with a 5.49 ERA.
