The last place Minnesota Twins will travel to Kauffman Stadium to take on the first place Kansas City Royals. The surprising Royals will turn to veteran right-hander Jeremy Guthrie (10-10) to take on young left-hander Tommy Milone (6-4).

The 27-year-old Milone will make his 20th start of the 2014 season and 4th with the Twins. He was acquired by Minnesota earlier this year from the Oakland Athletics and will look to get his first win as a member of the Twins. He is 0-1 in 3 starts with an 8.49 ERA, reaching the sixth inning just once. In his last 2 starts, he has allowed 9 earned runs in 5.2 innings. He has had limited experience in his career against current members of the Royals, holding them to a .243 combined average. Eric Hosmer (.364, 1 home run) and Billy Butler (.429) have had the most success off him.

For the Royals, it will be 35-year-old Guthrie getting the ball in hopes of getting his record above .500 for the first time this season since he was 2-0. He has gone 4-1 in August, allowing 11 earned runs in 34.2 innings with 23 strikeouts and just 5 walks. In his career against current members of the Twins, he has allowed 34 hits in 142 at-bats. Joe Mauer has had the most success against Guthrie, hitting .360 with 3 home runs, while Kurt Suzuki has also done well with 6 hits in 18 trips to the plate.
