Minnesota Twins starter Phil Hughes (14-8) will go for his fifth win in a row on Wednesday night when he faces Yordano Ventura (10-9) and the Kansas City Royals.

Phil Hughes gave up just one run in seven innings of work against the Cleveland Indians last week and picked up the win. He allowed just five hits in that outing while striking out eight batters and walking no one. In the month of August, Hughes is 4-0 with a 1.32 ERA and he has struck out 23 batters in 27.1 innings on the mound.

Royals shortstop Alcides Escobar has five hits in 13 at-bats against Hughes with a double, a home run and two RBI. Catcher Salvador Perez is 2-for-14 against him with a double and two strikeouts.

Yordano Ventura had a good start against the Texas Rangers on the road last Friday and ended up picking up the win. He pitched six innings in that start and gave up just one run on four base hits while walking three batters and striking out six. Ventura currently has a 3.40 ERA on the season and he has struck out 125 batters in 145.2 innings.

Danny Santana is the only player on the Twins who has hit a home run off of Ventura, but he is just 1-for-8 overall against him. Brian Dozier is 3-for-6 against Ventura with a walk, a double and an RBI.
