On Wednesday night, Phil Hughes (10-7) will attempt to end his current two-game losing skid when he and the Minnesota Twins take on Danny Duffy (5-10) and the Kansas City Royals.

Last Thursday, Phil Hughes was only able to last three innings against the Chicago White Sox and ended up taking the loss. He allowed two earned runs in that game and struck out four batters while walking zero. Hughes has been pretty streaky for the Twins this year and currently has a 4.10 ERA. He has also given up 151 hits in 131.2 innings of work.

Royals designated hitter Billy Butler has seven hits in 21 at-bats versus Hughes with three doubles, a home run and three RBI. Jarrod Dyson has also hit a home run off of Hughes, but he is just 1-for-9 overall against him with five strikeouts.

Left-hander Danny Duffy once again didn't get much help in his start against the Cleveland Indians last week and ended up with a no decision. He pitched well in that outing by going seven shutout innings and striking out seven batters while walking two. Duffy may be 5-10, but he also has a 2.47 ERA and has only received 2.75 runs of run support in his starts.

Twins outfielder Josh Willingham is hitless against Duffy in 11 at-bats in his career with a walk and three strikeouts. Trevor Plouffe is just 1-for-9 against him with no walks and five strikeouts.
