Monday evening, the Minnesota Twins will give the ball to Kyle Gibson as they face the Cleveland Indians and Zach McAllister.  Gibson will be making his 6th start as McAllister makes his 7th.

Kyle Gibson took his second straight loss in his last start after starting the season with 3 straight wins.  In his last outing, Gibson gave up 5 runs on 9 hits in 6.2 innings with 3 walks and 2 strikeouts.  The loss lowered his record to 3 – 2 and raised his ERA to 4.34.  In 2013, Gibson was 2 – 4 with a 6.53 ERA in 10 starts.  

During his rookie year last season, Gibson didn’t get the decision in his only start against the Indians.  This season, he beat the Indians with a 5 inning effort where he allowed just a run on 3 hits.  Cleveland’s Mike Aviles is a perfect 2 for 2 with 2 RBIs against Gibson.

Zach McAllister also lost his second straight after winning three in a row.  In his last start, McAllister’s record felt to 3 – 2 and his ERA rose to 3.82 after he lasted just 4.1 innings and gave up 5 runs on 4 hits (including a homer) with 4 walks and 5 strikeouts.  His results could have been due to the short rest that he had between starts. Last season, McAllister went 9 – 9 with a 3.75 ERA in 24 starts. 

In 2013, McAllister was 2 – 0 with an ERA of 1.53 in 3 starts against the Twins. Minnesota’s Joe Mauer could be a factor in this one as he is a .444 hitter with 4 RBIs against McAllister.
