Monday night, Kevin Correia gets the call for the Minnesota Twins as they face Rubby De La Rosa and the Boston Red Sox.  Correia will be making his 14th start of the season as De La Rosa makes his 4th.

Kevin Correia got the win in his last start and that took his record to 3 – 7 with a 5.60 ERA.  Correia pitched 6 innings of shutout ball and allowed just 6 hits and a walk while striking out 1.  It was his best outing of the year and it could be a turning point for him if he is going to post better results than last year when he went 9 – 13 with a 4.18 ERA in 31 starts.

In 2013, Correia won his only start against the Red Sox after allowing 3 runs on 9 hits in 5.1 innings of work.  This season, Correia lost his only outing against Boston after giving up 5 runs on 9 hits (including a home run) in 4 innings.

Rubby De la Rosa dropped his 2nd straight game and that gives him a 1 – 2 record with a 3.93 ERA coming into this one.  The last time out, De La Rosa allowed 4 runs on 7 hits (including a home run) in 5.2 innings of work. He walked 2 and struck out 7.  De La Rosa hasn’t given the Red Sox much but he has done more than last season when he was 1 – 2 with a 5.56 ERA in 11 relief appearances. 

In 2013, De La Rosa didn’t face the Twins and he has only opposed 2 of their hitters in the past.  Joe Mauer is 1 for 3 with a double and Eduardo Nunez is 1 for 2 against the young right-hander.
