Saturday night, the Minnesota Twins will take the field behind Kyle Gibson (11 – 10, 4.31 ERA) as they face the Baltimore Orioles and Chris Tillman (11 – 5, 3.41 ERA).  Gibson makes his 26th start as Tillman makes his 29th.

Kyle Gibson had a rough start in his last outing and it led to a loss.  In just 4.2 innings of work, Gibson was rocked for 5 runs and 8 hits. He walked 4 batters and struck out 5. Gibson hasn’t been able to find any consistency in his last few starts and is 5 - 4 in his last 10 outings.  Last season, Gibson went 2 - 4 with a 6.53 ERA in 10 starts.

Gibson has never faced the Orioles but if he makes good use of the scouting report and any advice from the rest of the pitching staff, he could rebound from his last start.

Chris Tillman turned in another solid performance his last time out and it allowed him to notch anther victory.  In the win, Tillman surrendered just a run on 3 hits in 7 innings of work. He walked 2 and struck out 2.   It was the 2nd straight start that Tillman allowed just 1 run in.  In his last 10 starts, he has allowed 2 or fewer runs in 8 of those starts.  But his record is just 4 – 1 in those outings.  Last season, Tillman went 16 – 7 with a 3.71 ERA in 33 starts.

In 2013, Tillman escaped with a no-decision in his only start against the Twins after allowing 5 runs and 7 hits (including a homer) in 3.2 innings.  Minnesota is batting .300 against Tillman with 9 hits, a homer and 8 RBIs in 30 at-bats.
