On Wednesday night, right-hander Yovani Gallardo (8-7) will try to win his third game in four starts when the Milwaukee Brewers face rookie Odrisamer Despaigne (3-5) and the San Diego Padres.

Veteran Yovani Gallardo had a rough start against the Pittsburgh Pirates last Friday and ended up taking the loss. He gave up six runs (three earned) in five innings of work that day while walking three batters and striking out four. Gallardo has a 3.38 ERA after that loss and he has only walked 2.4 walks per nine innings.

Padres outfielder Will Venable is 7-for-18 against Gallardo in his career with two doubles, a home run and four RBI. Seth Smith is just 2-for-14 against him in his career with two walks and five strikeouts.

Last Friday against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Odrisamer Despaigne ended up taking the loss after giving up four runs (three earned) in five innings of work. He allowed five hits in that game and walked one batter while striking out four. Through 11 starts, he now has a 3.44 ERA on the season and he has only given up five home runs in 65.1 innings.

Brewers outfielder Gerardo Parra has zero hits in his three at-bats against Despaigne in his career with no walks. All of the other Brewers will be going up against the left-hander for the first time on Wednesday night.
