Sunday afternoon, Wily Peralta (16 – 10, 3.70 ERA) gets the call for the Milwaukee Brewers as they do battle against Charlie Morton (6 -12, 3.72 ERA) and the Pittsburgh Pirates.  Peralta will be making his 31st start as Morton makes his 27th. 

Wily Peralta had a fine start his last time out but failed to get the decision.  Peralta pitched 7 innings and allowed 2 runs and 5 this while walking a batter and striking out 3.   Peralta had a brief losing streak recently but he is still 5 -4 in his last 10 outings and has pitched better than his record indicates.  Last season, in 32 starts, Peralta posted a record of 11 - 15 with a 4.37 ERA.

Charlie Morton got the win after turning in a decent performance in his last start.  Morton threw 5 innings of shutout ball and allowed just 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 6.  It was Morton’s first start in over a month due to a hernia but he looked well enough to close out the year.  Morton had been struggling in recent starts and is just 2 -3 in his last 10 outings.   Last season, he went 7 - 4 with a 3.26 ERA in 20 starts.

In 2013, Morton dominated the Brewers and was 2 – 0 with a 0.57 ERA in 3 starts.  This season, he is winless in 2 starts against Milwaukee.
