Friday night, the Milwaukee Brewers will take the field behind Yovani Gallardo (8 -10, 3.59 ERA) as they take on the Pittsburgh Pirates and Jeff Locke (7 – 5, 3.66 ERA).   It will be the 31st start for Gallardo and the 20th start for Locke.

Jeff Locke wasn’t sharp in his last outing and he ended up with the loss.  In 5.1 innings of work, Locke surrendered 3 runs and 6 hits (including a home run) while walking 3 and striking out 5.  Locke seems to have control in some games and none in others.  That inconsistency has led to a 5 – 4 record in his last 10 starts.  In 2013, Locke went 10 - 7 with a 3.52 ERA in 30 starts.

Last season, Locke was 1 – 0 with a 4.32 ERA in 3 starts against the Brewers.  This season, Locke is 1 - 1 in 2 starts against Milwaukee.
