Friday night, the Milwaukee Brewers and Marco Estrada will face the Miami Marlins and Tom Koehler. Both pitchers will be making their 10th trips to the hill. 

Marco Estrada dropped to 3 – 2 with an ERA of 3.64 after losing his last start.  In that outing, Estrada gave up 4 runs on 7 hits (including 2 homers) in 5 innings of work.  He issued 2 walks while striking out 4.  His numbers will have to get better if he wants to improve on 2013’s results when he went 7 - 4 with a 3.87 ERA in 21 starts. 

Last season, Estrada didn’t face the Marlins but he has some experience against the Miami lineup.  He will have to watch out for Donovan Solano.  Solano is 4 of 6 with a double and an RBI against the right-hander.

Tom Koehler pitched 7 shutout innings en route to a win in his last start that boosted his record to 4 – 3 and lowered his ERA to 2.25.  Koehler allowed just 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 7.  It was one of his best starts of the year and it will certainly help him to put up better numbers this year than he did last season.  In 2013, Koehler was 5 – 10 with a 4.41 ERA in 23 starts and 6 relief appearances. 

Last season, Koehler didn’t face the Brewers and he has only seen 7 Milwaukee hitters in his career.  And only 2 of those hitters actually have a hit off of Koehler.
