Sunday afternoon, the Milwaukee Brewers will give the ball to Jimmy Nelson as they take on the Miami Marlins and Randy Wolf.  Nelson will be making his 1st start of the year as Wolf makes his 1st start and 3rd appearance.

Jimmy Nelson got the call-up from the Brewers Triple- A affiliate in Nashville to replace Yovani Gallardo in the rotation for this start.  Nelson has looked solid in the minors this season with a record of 5 – 1 and an ERA of 1.71.  If he looks good in this start, it might be tough for the Brewers to send him back to Nashville.  Nelson has experience in the big leagues with a start and 3 relief appearances last year when he was 0 – 0 with an ERA of 0.90.

Nelson has never faced the Marlins but if he shows them the same stuff that he has been displaying in the minors this year, he should do well.

Randy Wolf singed with the Marlins on May 14th after the Marlins lost starting pitcher Jose Fernandez.  With Fernandez out for the season after undergoing Tommy John surgery, Wolf was added to provide a veteran arm to the rotation.  Ironically, Wolf missed all of the 2013 season after undergoing the same procedure.  In his 2 relief appearances this season, Wolf is 0 – 0 with a save and an ERA of 1.80.  Before the Marlins signed him he was with the Arizona Diamondbacks Triple-A affiliate in Reno where he went 5 – 1 with an ERA of 4.50 in 6 starts.

Wolf has seen a few of the Brewers in his career and he will have to keep an eye on Lyle Overbay.  Overbay is 3 of 8 with a homer and 3 RBIs against the veteran left-hander.
