Thursday night, the Milwaukee Brewers and Marco Estrada will take on the Cincinnati Reds and Homer Bailey. It will be the 6th starts for both pitchers.

Marco Estrada picked up his 2nd win of the season after a solid 7.2 innings of work his last time out, where he allowed 3 runs on 4 hits (including 2 home runs) without a walk while striking out 9.  Last season, Estrada was 7 – 4 with an ERA of 3.87 in 21 starts. 

In 2013, Estrada won his only start against the Reds after pitching 7 innings of 1 hit, shutout ball.   But Estrada will need to pitch carefully to Cincinnati’s Jay Bruce.  Bruce is 6 of 17 with 4 homers and 8 RBIs when facing Estrada.  

Homer Bailey saw his record fall to 1 - 2 and his ERA rise to 6.15 after his last start.  In that outing, Bailey allowed 5 runs (all earned) on 9 hits in 6 innings without issuing any walks and striking out 4. In 2013, Bailey was 11 – 12 with a 3.49 ERA in 32 starts.     

Last season, Bailey 2 – 2 with an ERA of 4.54 in 5 starts against the Brewers.  Milwaukee’s Rickie Weeks will be looking forward to seeing Bailey because he is a .500 hitter with 2 home runs and 8 RBIs in 26 at-bats against the Cincinnati right-hander.
