On Monday, Yovani Gallardo (6-6) will take the mound for the Milwaukee Brewers when they face Jake Arrieta (6-3) and the Chicago Cubs.

Last Wednesday, Yovani Gallardo pitched just four innings against the San Francisco Giants and ended up losing his sixth game of the year. He allowed four runs on nine base hits in that outing while walking four batters and striking out four. Gallardo now has a 3.54 ERA this season and he has struck out 8.8 batters per nine innings.

Cubs shortstop Starlin Castro hasn't been able to hit a home run off of Gallardo yet, but he is 14-for-37 against him with three doubles and an RBI. Outfielder Chris Coghlan is 5-for-6 against the right-hander with a walk and a double.

Right-hander Jake Arrieta had by far his worst start of the season last Wednesday when he was beaten by the Colorado Rockies on the road. He went five innings in that outing and gave up a season-high nine earned runs on 13 hits while striking out three and walking no one. Despite that tough start, Arrieta still has a very solid 2.80 ERA on the year and he has struck out 109 batters in 103 innings.

Brewers outfielder Carlos Gomez is just 1-for-4 against Arrieta, but that one hit was a home run. Third baseman Aramis Ramirez is 1-for-5 against him with a walk.
