Wednesday night, the Milwaukee Brewers will send Kyle Lohse to the mound as they take on the Atlanta Braves and Ervin Santana.  Lohse makes his 10th start of the season as Santana makes his 8th.  

Kyle Lohse improved to 5 – 1 with a 2.88 ERA after picking up the win in his last outing.  In that start, Lohse gave up 3 runs on 7 hits (including 2 homers) in 7 innings with a walk and 2 strikeouts.  Lohse is on a tear and should certainly do better this season than he did in 2013 when he went 11 – 10 with an ERA of 3.35 in 32 starts.

Last season, Lohse won his only start against the Braves after pitching a 2 hit complete game shutout.   But this season, he opened his year with a loss against the Braves after allowing 3 runs on 5 hits in 7 innings of work. 

Ervin Santana took his first loss of the season in his last outing.  Santana’s record fell to 4 – 1 and his ERA rose to 2.76 after he surrendered 5 runs on 10 hits in just 5 innings of work.   He threw 99 pitches as he walked 1 and struck out three.  Santana is pitching much better than he did in 2013 when he went 9 - 10 with an ERA of 3.24 in 32 starts for the Kansas City Royals. 

Last season, Santana didn’t get to face the Brewers but he has seen some of the Milwaukee hitters before.  Collectively, the Brewers are batting just .190 against Santana but Lyle Overbay has managed to get 1 home run and 3 RBIS against the right-hander in 27 at-bats.
