The Miami Marlins will face the Washington Nationals on Tuesday in the second meeting of a three game series. The Marlins will send Henderson Alvarez to the mound to face the Nationals’ Blake Treinen.

Alvarez is coming off a fantastic performance in which he pitched seven scoreless innings and only gave up four hits while striking out three. However, he ended up with the no decision as the bullpen lost this game for him. He left with a 3-0 lead before the Miami Marlins rallied to win the game in the ninth. Alvarez is now 2-3 with a 3.21 ERA and will be looking to get that elusive third win when he faces the Nationals.

Alvarez hasn’t fared well against current Washington hitters as they are batting .340 against him. Bryce Harper and Adam LaRoche combine for 11-for-24 against Alvarez with two homeruns and five RBIs.

Blake Treinen is coming off his second straight loss of the season. He pitched 5.2 innings and gave up two earned runs over four hits to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday. After coming out of the bullpen, Treinen has pitched well and has a 0-2 record with a 1.56 ERA. The Nationals will hope Treinen’s stellar play will continue when he gets the start on Tuesday.

Current Marlins are 2-for-7 against Treinen with no extra base hits, two strikeouts and one walk.
